WM Pioneers vs. NE Revolution U23

This Tuesday the Pioneers open up their season with a Friendly Match at Lusitano Stadium when we host the NE Revolution U23 squad. Kick off is at 7pm where you’ll see returning stars Maxi Viera and Federico Gutierrez lead us into the beginning stages of our 2019 conquest. While the Pioneers have some returning talent, there are also many new faces coming to the team. Our roster is handcrafted with players from colleges all over the country, being the home to players of many different nationalities bringing an improved, diverse look to provide a dynamic squad that’ll compete for the Northeast division title.

The Revs

Our opponent is a group of players within the New England Revolution organization. While the MLS group has struggled to get results, the 23s have some strong players that will put together a strong performance. The professional backing of the organization will give the Pioneers a great opportunity to put a strong foot forwards and get the ball rolling by performing at a higher level than our counterparts.

Be There

Kick off is 7pm at Lusitano Stadium in our Hometown of Ludlow, MA. General admission is $9 for adults, $6 for students, and free for children under 6 so bring friends, family, and more to watch your Pioneers get off to a hot start.

WM Pioneers vs. AC Connecticut

Getting Underway

Following our Friendly against the NE Revolution U23 squad, we look to open our league play in the newly created USL League 2. We open up with a matchup against our CT rival, AC Connecticut. Friday, May 17th, we travel down to Western Connecticut State University to get our 2019 season started.

Our Past Results

After last season, we look to continue our trend in the matchup with AC. We opened up our season last year in similar fashion, going on a trip to play them and getting a great 2-1 result with an early goal coming from Maxi Viera. After conceding a late first half goal, Dan Fabian helped us finish on top with the game winner in the second half. When we hosted them later in the season, we saw a 3-0 victory with goals coming from Maxi Viera, Kyle Tomas, and Khalid Rose.

The Table

After a fifth place finish last year, AC Connecticut has tried to find new players to boost their place in the standings. Our 2018 campaign saw us fall just short of the PDL Playoff picture but with the new layout, stacking the USL leagues on top of each other, we look to jump up into the top spot. Our third place finish saw us ahead of AC, but this opening match must be a win to get us off to the right start for a first place finish.

What’s Next?

We will be on the road again following our season opener at AC Connecticut as we then travel to play the Seacoast United Phantoms on Sunday, May 19th at 4pm. Following our season’s first two games, we come back home for our first league game at the historic Lusitano Stadium on Friday, May 24th when we will play GPS Portland at 7:30PM.
