2016 PDL Schedule Released

Team prepares for 19th season

The Western Mass Pioneers are pleased to release their 2016 Premier Development League (PDL) schedule.  This is the 19th year the Pioneers will compete in the United Soccer Leagues (USL).

The Pioneers will kick off the 2016 season May 7 at the Seacoast Phantoms.  The Western Mass home opener is Sunday, May 22 at 4 PM.  The regular season wraps up July 17 on the road at GPS Portland.

The Northeast Division, where the Pioneers are positioned, has several new additions.  FC Boston Bolts are a new franchise, replacing the Real Boston Rams.  FA Euro switched divisions into the Northeast, along with long time USL program the Long Island Rough Riders.  The Seacoast Phantoms, GPS Portland, Westchester Flames, and AC Connecticut are returning to challenge for playoff berths and positions in the 2017 US Open Cup.

“We are very excited to start our 19th season” stated general manager Greg Kolodziey.  “Coach Federico (Molinari) and I are busy assembling a team that will compete for a playoff spot.  I can’t say names yet until contracts are signed, but there will be familiar faces suiting up this year.”
