WM Pioneers vs. Black Rock FC: Wednesday, June 5, 2019 7:00pm

Unbeaten Week

After a two-game road trip, where points are often hard to come by, your Pioneers have brought all six points back home headed into the next big match at Lusitano Stadium. With a total of nine goals for and just one against in the two games, the Pioneers have kept on pace with their blazing hot start. The midweek matchup with the Boston Bolts saw a 4-0 result with goals from Ciro Damine, Jeremy Fricker, and two from Sebastian Rosano. The weekend trip to Westchester resulted in a 5-1 final with goals from Maxi Viera, Ciro Damine, Sebastian Rosano, and Yanis Boucette. Mullen had 4 saves as the team conceded their first goal of the season.

Scouting Black Rock

Black Rock currently sits in third place on the table with 12 points through five matches while we hold the second spot with 13 points in five matches. The only loss of their season came against GPS Portland Phoenix (3-4), a team who the Pioneers beat 1-0 earlier in the season. Black Rock currently has six different goalscorers, all of which are being paced by the leader, Ousseni Bouda, who has eight goals through five games played. Ifunanyachi Achara has taken on the playmaker role with four assists on top of two goals. With three different goalkeepers getting action, it has been Leland Gazo who has a 1.91 GAA and a 0.682 Save Percentage, making 15 saves but conceding seven goals.

Our Past Results

Last year, the results were split between the two teams, seeing each get a win. In two games, the Pioneers got a win at Black Rock while Black Rock got a win the second time around when the game was at Lusitano. WM got the 2-0 win and lost the second match 1-2 to the conference winners. Da’Vaughn Anderson and Eddie Speed were the Kryptonite for Black Rock as they were the goalscorers in the two matches. Lucky Okpoye scored against the Pioneers last season and returns this year as a potential threat to our strong back line.
